Emmering, Germany – The Infypower chargebyte e-Rally Team is continuing its successful journey: Johannes Wittenbeck has extended his contracts for the 2025 season and will once again compete under the petitioner of the ADAC Team Südbayern in the globally unique ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup. Together with co-driver Maximilian Kugler, who joined him mid-season last year, Wittenbeck is aiming to improve on their strong fifth-place finish in the 2024 championship. After joining the Cup in 2023 and showing consistent progress – from 12th to 5th place – the goal for this season is clear: “We want to fight for a podium finish once more with our Corsa Rally Electric!”, says Wittenbeck.
The 2025 season includes seven rounds across four Europe: France, Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands. Alongside prestigious events such as the Rallye Vosges Grand Est and the ELE Rally, the Central European Rally – once again part of the WRC – will serve as the grand season finale in October. The action kicks off on April 24th with the Shakedown at the ADAC Rallye Sulingen, where the fully electric Corsa Rally cars traditionally open the season.
“Personally, I want to keep improving in my role and tackle the challenges that the Opel Electric Rally Cup events present,” explains co-driver Kugler. Thanks to the support of strong sponsors, this is made possible for the just 16-year-old. “It’s amazing that we’ve been able to put together such an exciting package again with the help of our partners from last year. We’ll make the most of our opportunity and shake up the competition once more!”, adds Wittenbeck. As a Bavarian team in the field, Wittenbeck and Kugler proudly represent southern Germany across Europe – while also standing for sustainable motorsport. The ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup continues to be the world’s first and only one rally series using fully electric vehicles.
The lineup of competitors promises another thrilling season: Among them is Belgium’s Tom Heindrichs, half-brother of reigning World Rally Champion Thierry Neuville, as well as Anthony Rott from France, last year’s Cup vice champion. Other strong contenders include Germany’s Christian Lemke, a Cup regular since 2021, Kilian Nierenz from ADAC Nordbayern, and Fabian Kamermans, representing the Dutch national team. Also returning is Sito Espanol from Opel Spain, who already gained international experience in the European Rally Championship in 2022. The top-tier field is rounded out by the Belgian national team and German young talent Arwed Jungnickel.
